The youngest province chairs in Vietnam

VietNamNet Bridge - There are six chairs of provinces born in 1970s. Of these, the youngest are the chairs of Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces. Both of them were born in 1976.

1. Dang Quoc Khanh was appointed by the Ha Tinh provincial People’s Council to chair of the provincial People’s Committee on April 21, 2016.

Khanh was born in September 1976 in Tien Dien commune of Nghi Xuan district. He has a bachelor’s degree in architecture and doctorate in urban management and construction.

He was deputy head and head of the Planning & Architecture Division of the Ha Tinh provincial Construction Department; deputy director and director of the Construction Department; secretary of the Nghi Xuan district Party Committee; deputy chair and deputy secretary of the Ha Tinh provincial Party Committee before taking office as chair of Ha Tinh.

Khanh is an alternate member of the 12th Party Central Committee.

2. Thai Thanh Quy was appointed to chair of the Nghe An province People’s Committee for the 2016-2021 tenure on October 1, 2018.

He was born in April 1976 in Long Thanh commune of Yen Thanh district. He has master’s degree in economics.

He grew up with the Youth Union-led activities and youth movements. He was the Youth Union Secretary of provincial agencies in September 2003 – September 2006.

In October 2010, he was elected as a member of the 17th Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, 2010-2015 term.

On August 3, 2012, he took office as Secretary of Nam Dan District Party Committee, 2010-2015 term.

In January 2016, he was elected alternate member of the 12th Party Central Committee.

3. Tran Tien Dung took office as chair of Lai Chau People’s Committee for 2016-2021  term on February 28, 2019.

Born March 7, 1975 in My Xa commune of Nam Dinh City, Nam Dinh province, he has a master’s degree in law.

Dung had 20 years working in the judiciary.

He was an officer, secretary to leaders, deputy chief secretariat, chief secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and worked as Deputy Minister of Justice for three years.

4. Pham Dai Duong was appointed as chair of Phu Yen province on August 8, 2018.

Born in 1974 in Dong Ngac commune of Tu Liem district in Hanoi, he has a master’s degree in science & technology management.

In August 2018, he became deputy secretary of the Phu Yen provincial Party Committee.

Before taking office in Phu Yen, Duong held the post of Deputy Minister of Science & Technology and chair of the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park Management Board.

5. Dang Xuan Phong was elected chair of Lao Cai People’s Committee in October 2015. In June 2016, he re-elected as the chair of the province.

He was born in July 1972 in Tien Lu commune of Lap Thach district in Vinh Phuc province. He has doctorate in economics.

He worked in different positions, including head of the Foreign Economic Relations and General Affairs divisions, deputy director and director of the Lao Cai Planning and Investment Department. After that, he became secretary of the Bac Ha district Party Committee, and then deputy chair of Lao Cai and deputy secretary of the provincial Party Committee for 2015-2020 term. 

6. Do Duc Duy was elected chair of Yen Bai province in February 2017.

He was born in May 1970 in Thuy Van commune of Thai Thuy district in Thai Binh province. He has master’s degree in civil engineering.

He was a lecturer at the Construction Faculty at the Hanoi Architecture University in 1996-2002.

He has worked for the Ministry of Construction for many years. In August 2015, he became Deputy Minister of Construction.

In February 2017, he became deputy secretary of the Yen Bai provincial Party Committee.
