Young runner Vu Phuong Thanh has announced he is heading overseas to compete alongside 30 other world class runners at – RunUltra – a 522km, 10-day Trail Race in the Australian outback.

RunUltra is self-supported race through the Aussie outback that has nine stages spread out over a 10-day span.

It’s double the distance of the Marathon des Sables and has only garnered a handful of finishers since it first started in 2012.

The toughest stage is on the last day, which is more than 130km itself.

It all gets started this coming May 17 in the Northern Territory of Australia.
