Customs officers at Hanoi's Noi Bai Airport have seized 3 kilos of suspected rhino horn brought from Myanmar on April 25.
3 kilos of suspected rhino horn seized at Noi Bai Airport
Customs officials sent samples to the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources for tests.
On April 22, the officers discovered suspicious goods while screening belongings of passenger Dong Thi Tra, born in 1989 from Hai Duong Province, who had returned from Yangon, Myanmar.
After opening the cases, the officers found eight parts of horn that weighed 3kg.
Rhino horn smuggling cases have become increasingly common at Noi Bai Airport.
On March 14, the customs office at Noi Bai Airport collaborated with the Anti-smuggling Investigation Department to seize over 100kg of rhino horn.
Over 50kg of horn were also seized at Noi Bai Airport on a flight from Nairobi, Kenya to Hanoi.
